All the
recipes in this website were tested using standard measuring cups and spoons.
In measuring dry ingredients, heap them lightly into the cup (available in a
set of 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 1-cup sizes) and level them off at the rim with the
edge of a knife or spatula. Do not press down the ingredients. However, shortening,
butter or margarine as well as brown sugar should be packed firmly* into the
cup. To use the measuring spoon (which comes in a set of 1 tbsp. and 1, 1/2
and 1/4 tsp.) dip it into the ingredient, then level it off with the edge of
a knife.
In measuring liquids, use an 8 or 16 oz. standard cup of transparent glass or
clear plastic. Do not use the cup for dry' ingredients to measure liquids because
a cup of liquid is slightly more than a cup of dry ingredients. When measuring
liquids, set cup on a level surface, fill up to the amount needed, then check
measurement at eye level by bending down, not by lifting the cup. To measure
one cup, do not fill to the rim because the cup has space at the top to allow
for full measure without spilling.
